Thrill Seekers Haven –
Kiulu Quad Biking!
Thrill seekers and adrenaline junkies time to hop on the quad bike and ride into the wilderness! This is really something that you won’t regret doing and I’d say it’ll be the most memorable thing you will ever do.
The road to Kiulu Kg.Mantob. I’d say it’s a fine gloomy day which is a good thing because it’ll be a less sunny day for us
Along the way to Kampung Mantob, Kiulu, you’ll be surprised with the beautiful countryside views, mountains, paddy fields, and all the nature around it. Kiulu is located outside of the city areas so you’ll be seeing more countryside than concrete jungles. There are tons to see along the way and the best one is the Kiulu River. We did make a quick stop at the Bolitikon River to have a look at the water; it’s quite clear and it makes you wanna jump in and have a short dip in the river.
A short stop at the Bolitikon Bridge. I’d say it’s a very worth-it stop
The beautiful crystal clear water of the Bolitikon River makes you wanna jump in for a short dip!
After about 45 minutes drive, we finally reached Kg. Mantob and on with the Quad Biking Fun! But before that there will be a safety briefing by the quad biking guide.
You’ll be seeing a lot of Paddy Fields and Mountains along the Way to Kg.Mantob. A sight that you don’t get in the city area
A safety briefing conducted by our Quad Biking Guide, Mr. Joe. He will explain everything about the safety and also the do’s and dont’s of the quad biking tour
After the Safety Briefing, we are off to hop on the quad bike but before that there will be a short test run to test your driving skills and also just to give us a feel of driving the quad bike.
We had a short test run at the field just next to the Quad Bike station. The guide asked us to make a few turns with the quad bike to make sure that we can maneuver it safely and professionally. Hehehe..
Once everyone is ready, it is time to push the throttle and let’s go!
The first time pushing the throttle was the best feeling in the world you will ever get and your heart just can’t wait to get into the action. Our guide leads us to our first stop which is on top of the hill with a super scenic view.
Our first stop is on top of a hill with a super scenic view of the local villages below and also Mantob River
The view from the top of the hillside
Move further down and you will reach a bridge passing the Kampung Mantob River and you can take photo at the bridge
After crossing the bridge you will see many more countrysides and villages before going into the muddy and rocky terrain trail. It’ll make your heart go faster as you move through the muddy off road trails. Along the way you’ll be passing thru jungles, village houses, muddy trails, and more muddy trails. It’s a very different kind of feeling when you’re driving a car through a muddy terrain as compared to riding a quad bike.
Our Quad Biking adventures begin
Our second stop is at one of houses of the local villager, and our guide Mr.Joe told us that the person who lives in this house makes Fishing Net for a living
An old shack
Crossing through some old houses and storage rooms and don’t forget the mud puddles too. Haha!
It’s an old rugged and well built wooden house that is perfectly situated on the hillside and the view from up there is spectacular
Bamboo Woven Basket
Fast flowing river view and also all the nature that surrounds it.
The Legend Of Kampung Mantob – he was kind enough to let me take his picture
After passing by the wooden house, we made our way further up to the road for more adventures. As we venture deeper we got to see many things and passing thru more and more hillsides, houses, schools and many more.
It’s a never ending road filled with many spectacular views and to my interest is the local villages which is just simple wooden houses and the local villagers there live a very simple life. They were content with their life and they said it’s better to live in the village compared to the city as the stress level is much more higher and cost of living is crazy!
As we passed a gated area I was fortunate enough to meet someone who the guides called a Legend in Kampung Mantob. The guide told us he can carry a log 5 times his height all alone without any help and he was good enough to let me take his picture as I passed him on his walk to his farm.
We journey deeper into the trail and we get to see more spectacular views of the countrysides and much more villages. You will be seeing the amazing views of the untouched forest and also the hills that surrounds the trail. It will give you that sense of freedom and also adventure throughout the long and winding trails.
The spectacular views that we passed as we journey deeper into the trails.
The views from here just makes you wanna stop and take a picture because the view you get here is simply A-M-A-Z-I-N-G
As we reached the end of the trail it was filled with farms of all sort of local fruits and also small wooden houses. It was nice seeing many local farms that keeps the place as they filled the surroundings with green vegetations and nature. We had our rest stop at the ending point and enjoying the nature before turning back to the starting point.
A photo with our guide
As we traveled back to the starting point, each of us said to each other that we wish we can have a long time there but I’m sure next time we will definitely be coming back to this very exciting quad biking axperience.
Having our last picture with our Awesome guide Mr.Joe@Kutung! Before departing back to Kota Kinabalu. I would definitely recommend anyone to do it at least once. It is a fun activity to do with your friends or family in the weekends. It’s not all about the ride but also the mesmerizing views and nature that you will see along the trail that will take away all your work stress and gives you a very relaxing feel.
