Discover Scuba Diving 1-day Course
This tour is perfect for those who are looking for diving in Borneo islands. Going for scuba dive course is highly recommended to those who are not ready to take the plunge into the certification course, yet still wanted to try out diving in the Borneo islands. This Discover Scuba Diving Course will lets you try scuba diving in your Borneo Holidays. Although this course is not an actual scuba certification course, but you will get the chance to learn how to use the scuba equipment in shallow water and get a quick and easy introduction to dive in Borneo islands, as well as exploring the underwater world.

Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park consists of five clusters of islands, which are Gaya Island, Sapi Island, Manukan Island, Mamutik Island, and Sulug Island. These five islands are all located within a short boat ride from the capital city of Sabah Borneo, Kota Kinabalu city. Apart from that, it is also suitable to do diving (for the non-certified divers) due to its shallow and sandy confined waters that slope to slightly deeper coral reef habitats.
Moreover, this Discover Scuba Diving excursion will give you the chance to learn how to breathe underwater for the first time and venture out to open water for diving. Don’t miss out to see the array of marine life whilst exploring the underwater world like no other. However, this course is not a qualification that can give you the privilege to go for diving in Borneo Island next time, but it is simply just a memento for your once in a lifetime experience in your Borneo Holidays!
JESSELTON POINT JETTY – TUNKU ABDUL RAHMAN MARINE PARK (TARP) – WISMA SABAH
After breakfast, if you stay in Kota Kinabalu City Central, walk your way to Jesselton Point Jetty (lesser carbon print, happier environment) and arrive by 8.30am for registration. Our PADI Certified Instructor will get you kitted for the correct wetsuit size, fins, and the rest of the scuba equipment. A safety briefing and an overview of the skill circuit you need to complete will be given by our PADI Certified Instructor before going for the first dive.
Once you have learned the basics, you will descend into waters a maximum of 12 meters deep. Dive for around 30 – 45 minutes depending on how long the air lasts for (a general dive will last for 45 minutes). The first dive is over the training reef, suggested to have more fish than other dive sites, less coral but more fishes.
You will finish your first session around 11.30am, followed by lunch at one of islands in Tunku Abdul Marine Park.
After lunch, we complete the afternoon dive from the boat to a maximum depth of 10-12 meters lasting for 45 inutes. Second dive you will be able to see a variety of coral and fish.
Return back to mainland around 4pm.
