The Crocker Range was renamed to Taman Banjaran Crocker (Crocker Range Park) in 1996 and is now managed by Sabah Parks. The Salt Trail is a 34km Borneo jungle trail along the beautiful crocker mountain range used historically by remote villages for trade. The countrymen used to exchange their produce, handicrafts, livestock for necessity items such as salt to which the trail gained its name as ‘ The Salt Trail’. This trail starts from Tambunan along the crocker national park through to Penampang Sabah Malaysia . The highest elevation point for the historic trail is at 1,320m and the lowest is at 220m. The Expedition Borneo trek passes through primary Borneo jungle, quaint local sabah villages, rivers and more! On this Borneo tour there may be the opportunity of sighting many indigenous species of birds, insects, mammals, amphibians, and reptiles along the way. There are remote local villages scattered along the trail comprised of mainly people from the Dusun tribe and this borneo expedition includes overnight stays in village accommodation & the chance to sample the wonderful locally grown food. This is a tough but rewarding adventure through the heartland of Sabah sure to be the highlight of your time on the Island of borneo.

Day 1 – Kota Kinabalu to Kg. Tikolod, Molungung Camp

  • 10:00am Depart Kota Kinabalu for Kg Tikolod (approximately 2 hours)
  • Arrive at Molungung Camp, welcome briefing & introduction

  • Equipment issue & introduction.
  • Safety briefing & expedition preparation
  • Camp set up.

Day 2 – Molunging to Kg. Kionop

  • Breakfast
  • Prepare for trekking
  • Trek to Kg. Kionop (6 to 8 hours trekking time)
  • Lunch (en-route)
  • Arrive at Kg. Kionop
  • Free at own leisure
  • Evening meal
  • Night walk
  • Overnight stay at Kg. Kionop Church

Day 3 – Kg. Kionop to Kg. Buayan

  • Breakfast
  • Prepare for trekking
  • Trek to Kg. Buayan (3 – 4 hours trekking time)
  • Lunch (en-route)
  • Arrive at Kg. Buayan
  • Free at own leisure
  • Evening meal
  • Night walk
  • Overnight stay at Kg. Buayan

Day 4 – Kg. Buayan to Kg. Terian

  • Breakfast
  • Prepare for trekking
  • Trek to Kg. Terian (3 – 4 hours trekking time)

  • Arrive at Kg.Terian

Day 5 – Kg. Terian to Inobong Sub Station

  • Breakfast
  • Prepare for trekking
  • Trek to Kg. Inobong Sub Station (7 – 8 hours trekking time)

  • Expedition review & certificate presentation
  • Prepare to depart
  • 3:30pm Transfer to Kota Kinabalu
