Itinerary

Day 01: Arrive in Kuching

Upon your arrival at the Kuching International Airport we’ll pick you up and give you a ride to your hotel. Once you are all checked in, the rest of the day is yours. We recommend getting out and taking a stroll on the waterfront. Evenings on the waterfront are quite nice. You can find plenty of delicious foods and street performers.

Day 02: Kuching

Day 2 is an enchanting beach and rainforest adventure as you head to Bako National Park for some hiking along this beautiful jungle covered coastline.

Bako is a wonderful place for trekking and wildlife, so you will be able to spend the day wandering the trails in search of epic views and wildlife like the endemic Proboscis monkey.

After you visit Bako, we’ll take you back to Kuching in the late afternoon where the rest of the day will be yours.

Day 03: Kuching

On day 3, attend the Bumbu Cooking Class in downtown Kuching.
Your instructors will take you on a walk to the local market to buy your ingredients for the day. They will teach you about the different kinds of foods and ingredients you can find in the market and why those ingredients make the local dishes taste so good.

After you visit the market, head back to the kitchen and start preparing some of the famous local dishes that Sarawak is known for.

The class is only a half day, so you will have the remainder of the day to explore the city or simply relax.

Day 04: Kuching – Saloma Homestay

On your fourth day, you’ll get out of the city for two nights at a lovely homestay known as Saloma Homestay. Your host Saloma and her wonderful family will show you the welcoming culture of the Bidayuh people of Sarawak. On the way there, you will stop by the Semenggoh Orangutan Rehabilitation center to see the Orangutans being fed.

Saloma and her parents will welcome you into their village as family. Saloma will take you on a tour around the village and show you how to make handicrafts. If that’s not enough, you will get to enjoy the wonderful traditional bidayuh cooking and even join in the food prep if you wish.

Day 05: Saloma Homestay

On your second day with Saloma, she will take you trekking to a local waterfall. At these beautiful falls, you can relax or take a dip in the lovely pool under the waterfall.
When you return to the village, you can help the family around the farm and learn how to cook the traditional Bidayuh way.

This is a one of a kind homestay experience with Saloma and her family.

Day 06: Saloma Homestay – Tanjung Datu National Park

Following your stay at Saloma Homestay, you will head for Tanjung Datu National Park. You will cross over land to the village of Sematan and from there you will take a boat to this incredible national park.

Once you arrive and get settled in, explore the surroundings, visit the turtle hatchery or just relax at the beach before dinner at the Park Headquarters.

After dark, you can follow the guide for a night walk to search for wildlife. However, the real point of the walk is to check the beach to see if any turtles have come ashore to nest. If you are lucky, you will find a nesting turtle.

Day 07: Tanjung Datu National Park

Following breakfast, you will head out for some trekking in this stunning national park. The dipterocarp forests dip right into the sea in the park and forest is full of wildlife. On your trek, look for Gibbons, banded Languor, Hornbills, and more. Your trek ends at an amazing beach where you can swim.

Once you get back to the headquarters, you can go snorkeling along the shore if the tide is low.

In the evening, you will again be able to follow the ranger out for a night walk to check for nesting turtles.

Day 08: Tanjung Datu – Damai Beach

In case you haven’t had your fill of Sarawak’s lovely tropical beaches, we send you from Tanjung Datu to Damai Beach just outside of Kudat for a few days of relaxation.

In the late afternoon, you will have the once in a lifetime experience of witnessing millions of bats exiting the caves for the night. Return to your accommodation as the sun sets over the national park.

Day 11: Mulu National Park

Today, you will make your way up the Meliau river on a traditional longboat and visit a Penan longhouse.

Later, you will continue upstream over rapids and arrive at the Clearwater & Wind Caves. You will explore these stunning caves with your guide.
These caves make up part of a massive system of caves in Mulu National Park. The formations and sheer size of the caves is something to marvel at.

After you exit the caves, you will head further up river and a two hour trek to your camp for the night. The camp is known as Camp 5 and will be the starting point for your trek to the famous Mulu Pinnacles the following day.

Day 12: Mulu Pinnacles

The gruelling trek to the pinnacles will provide you with ultimate reward. This trek ascends 1200 meters in just 2.5 kilometers. That being said, the view when you reach the top is nothing short of breathtaking as you lay your eyes on the Mulu Pinnacles.
