Day 01: Arrival in Kota Kinabalu – Dinner & Cultural Performance
Upon arrival at Kota Kinabalu airport, we pick you up and transfer you to your hotel. At 6.30pm you’ll meet your guide at the hotel lobby and head to D’place restaurant for some local delicacies and an introduction to the unique culture of Sabah with dance performances and some local games.
Day 02: Rail Trip and White Water Rafting
Day 2 puts you into the action straight away. We pick you up early in the morning and take you to the Beaufort Railway Station where you will meet the Sabah State Railway train that will take you to Pangi.
In Pangi, you will meet your river guide and head out for some tropical whitewater rafting on the Padas River. When you reach the end of your 10 km rafting trip, you will hop back on the train to beaufort and then back to your hotel in Kota Kinabalu.
Day 03: Kota Kinabalu – Kinabalu Park – Poring Hot Spring – Kundasang
Morning of day 3 will find you on your way to UNESCO World Heritage Site, Kinabalu National Park. The park is a treasure trove of plants and animals that only exist there. It is crowned by the 4095m, Mt. Kinabalu.
At Kinabalu National Park, you will visit the incredible botanical garden and have the opportunity to wander the trails to see the unique montane forest that surrounds mount Kinabalu.
After lunch you will head for the other end of Kinabalu National Park for a visit to the tiny village of Poring and the naturally occurring hot springs. Here at Poring, you can visit the canopy walkway and take a dip in the hot springs.
You will stay the night in the cool mountain air (yes, you heard right) of Kundasang.
Day 04: Kota Kinabalu – Kinabalu Park – Poring Hot Spring – Kundasang
After a night in the highlands, day 4 will take you back to the lowlands of Borneo where you will visit Sepilok to visit to the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Center and the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Center for a close-up of our closest relatives, the orangutan and the world’s smallest bear species.
In the late afternoon, we take you to Sandakan to relax at the Four Points by Sheraton hotel overlooking the blue tropical waters of Sandakan.
Day 05: Sandakan – Kinabatangan River
Late morning on Day 5 it’s time to go to one of Borneo’s best wildlife spotting sites, the Kinabatangan River. You will hop on a boat at the Sandakan Yacht Club for a 1.5hrs boat ride to Kinabatangan Wetlands Resort.
This scenic boat ride is one of the highlights of the trip as you follow Sandakan’s scenic coastline and then head up river on a channel of the Kinabatangan River to arrive at this lovely resort.
Following your arrival, the afternoon is yours to relax and take it all in. In the late afternoon, the expert guides will take you on an evening boat cruise to spot wildlife such as the Borneo pygmy elephant, crocodiles, proboscis monkeys, and more.
After dinner, you will head out on the boat again for a night cruise. The night cruise offers you the opportunity to see a completely different type of wildlife that only comes out at night!
Day 06: Kinabatangan River
Day 6 starts of with a dawn river cruise. This cruise is the best opportunity to see the vast amount of birds that call the river home. If you are lucky, you may see hornbills or the critically endangered Storm’s Stork.
In the early evening, you will gear up for your last river cruise. Be sure to take in the serenity of the river under the waning sun and if the weather is good, be prepared for one of Borneo’s epic sunsets.
After dinner, you will follow your guide for a night walk in the forest surrounding the resort. This will be a great opportunity to spot small nocturnal creatures including the tarsier, snakes, and a wide array of strange and interesting insects.
Day 07: Kinabatangan River – Danum Valley & The Borneo Rainforest Lodge
Day 7 and it’s time to head for one of Borneo’s premiere jungle resorts, the Borneo Rainforest Lodge in Danum Valley.
During your trip to the Borneo Rainforest Lodge, you will have the opportunity to see the landscape change from oil palm plantations to stunning virgin rainforest.
Once you’ve settled into your accommodation and enjoyed the delicious dinner buffet, you will follow your guide for a night safari to spot the unique wildlife of Borneo that only comes out at night. We call it the “night shift”
Day 08: Danum Valley
Wake up to the calls of Borneo Gibbons and start your day with a guided trek to the viewpoint and to see historical burial sites at Coffin Cliff. Take a short break by the natural pool for a refreshing dip before returning for lunch at the lodge.
In the afternoon, you can choose from several optional activities such as guided jungle trekking, or weather permitting, water tubing session down the Danum River.
After dinner, enjoy a guided night walk on the nature trails.
Day 09: Danum Valley
Day 9 is your second full day at the Borneo Rainforest Lodge. We highly recommend taking some time to relax in this posh resort. There are plenty of spots to relax and enjoy the view of the river and the virgin rainforest that surrounds you.
If you are still feeling adventurous, you can hire a guide for the day. There are various expert guides at the resort who can take you for mammal spotting, bird spotting, or reptile spotting.
Day 10: Danum Valley – Gaya Island
Today you will enjoy your last morning in the rainforest before heading to nearby Lahad Datu and flying to Kota Kinabalu.
When you arrive at the airport, our driver will take you to the jetty where you will hop on a boat for Bunga Raya Resort on Gaya Island where you will spend the remaining days of your Borneo experience enjoying this stunning tropical resort.
Day 11-13: Gaya Island
Days 11-13 will be all about relaxing, but if you do get bored, you can arrange a host of different activities including snorkeling, kayaking, ziplining, or diving.

Day 14: Depart
On your final day, we’ll meet you at the jetty and transfer you to the airport or anywhere in the city for your next adventure.
