Mount Kinabalu trail to Laban Rata are now available!
Mount Kinabalu Trail had been reopened but for now it is up to Laban Rata 3,270 meters, the new route to the summit of Mount Kinabalu is being finalised and expected to be ready by Dec 1. For the moment Sabah Parks had fixed the maximum number of climbers at 100 per day. The new trail between Laban Rata and the summit would go through the Sayat Sayat hut before taking climbers along the summit plateau trail and then on to Low’s Peak. It will be more challenging than the previous trail in terms of steepness but it will be away from any loose rocks. The Mesilau Trail will be closed indefinitely until further notice as the mountain paths remain inaccessible since the quake. As such, all climbs will be using the Timpohon Trail exclusively.
